Tennis Tennis Tennis!

I love tennis, so when I was considering my move, one question was..... where am I going to play?

Coming from St Louis, I was used to playing on hard courts or clay courts during the summer months. Just when the weather was starting to cool and the leaves falling, September would find us moving indoors to play tennis in all kinds of venues. We were under the roof, under the dome and in bubbles. While the rain, snow or just plain cold made our outside courts bare of their nets and winterized, we would drive to our greenhouse like buildings to socialize with our tennis friends and play this sport we love.

So, to come down here and play outside year-round continues to both amaze and delight me. For me, it was the best way to meet people and become part of a community. I met my first and dearest friends playing tennis at the Arthur Allen Tennis Center in downtown Cambier park. This community park has 12 clay courts with lights, clinics, and even tennis pros on staff.

So where will you play? In addition to Cambier park, we do have a plethora of private country clubs and residential communities with tennis facilities. The YMCA and many more community parks have tennis courts. If you like competition, there are plenty of tennis leagues for juniors, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, enough where you can find a game every day of the week. If someone sees you with a racket in your hand, don't be surprised if you are asked to join in a game, a clinic, or a team.

I love to play tennis and I also love to watch tennis. We have so many local tournaments to participate in or just to watch. Two of my favorites to participate in are the Annual Oley Kinser Concierge Wealth Tennis Classic and the Clay in May Tennis Tournaments. Another favorite of mine is the Naples Pro League Tournament, a fun social event with an opportunity to visit alternating local clubs while watching our local premier tennis professionals compete.

And hopefully in 2021 when we can all resume traveling across the state to watch the Miami Open, I'm going to be there and I can hardly wait! Maybe I will see you there and share a glass of wine!
